Speed Dating

Speed dating is a "date" in the sense that you spend time with a member of the opposite gender. However, in speed dating, that time is limited to just a few minutes. "Body language is a factor in human courtship as a subconscious or subtle method of communication between potential mates."¹ We would surmise that chemistry and body language account for about 95% of all romantic interest. You can usually figure out within a few minutes if you have chemistry with a person and also analyze body language subconsciously (or consciously).

In speed dating, you start out with an equal number of men and women. After spending 3 minutes on the date, the men then rotate to a different woman. After each date, each man makes a note on his scorecard if he wants to have further contact with this woman, and each woman does the same. This rotation continues until he has a date with each woman. After it's finished, the scorecards are collected and contact information is given out if and only if they both marked "interested" in each other. We're probably going to have 18 guys and 18 gals in each session so we can finish in about an hour. We shall be running this service multiple times throughout the weekend at Anime South. Most organizations charge about $40 for speed dating 15 people, so this is a great value since this service is included with your membership.

The convention will have the following age groups:

• 16-23 (members in this group will be carded)
• 24-35
• 36-45
• 46-59
